Movable Swimming Pool Floors

Movable swimming pool floors enable you to utilise your available floor space more efficiently. In many cases they allow you to have a swimming pool facility where this would not otherwise be possible.

When the swimming pool is not in use, the movable floor enables the area to  be used as an entertainment space. We have one client who actually places her piano on the movable floor and gives concerts in the pool area – which is transformed into an entertainment hall.

Movable floors can also be used to convert outdoor patios into pool areas.

How Movable Swimming Pool Floors Work

The movable swimming pool floor uses a buoyancy system to float it up to the pool surface, where it is locked securely into position.

When submerged, the floor is held in place by hydraulically controlled cables. Releasing the cables allows the floor to rise up before locking into position.

When locked in place, the floor blends into the marble, mosaic, terrazzo or other surrounding floor covering.

Swimming Pool Conversions

An example of a moveable floor used in a municipal swimming pool is the Tudor Grange leisure centre in Solihull.

Here we have specified the moving floor to facilitate the swimming pools use for training and water polo events.
