Public Water Supply – Filtration Design & Installation
We have designed and installed water treatment solutions for numerous public water supply requirements. Below are some examples:-
- Rapid gravity roughing filters and eighteen slow sand filters
for the Dunore Point water treatments works in Antrim Northern Ireland.
- Chemical dosing and pumping system with complex control
at Conlig, Northern Ireland, for the D.O.E.
- Large scale, fully automated activated carbon plant
at Seagahan Dam, DOE NI.
- Blundell House Water Treatment Works refurbishment for NorthWest Water
Complete refurbishment of six large horizontal pressure sand filters. We designed and installed a new under drain collection system with new concrete in-fill and air scour pipe work.
Special Coatings
Where we use steel filters, they are shot blasted internally and externally to SA 2.5 standard. Special protective coatings are then applied, giving under normal usage, a life expectancy of approximately ten years before requiring internal refurbishment.
For some applications, GRP filters are available with a ten-year guarantee but there are limits as to the sizes available.
MOD Water Supply
Military bases require a drinking water supply which is independent of that for the public. Such schemes usually comprise of the following:-
- Borehole pumps serving filtration equipment. These would normally be pressure as opposed to rapid gravity type.
- Systems to remove certain chemicals commonly found in borehole water supply. In most cases they are terminated in activated carbon filters for the complete removal of pesticides.
